A movement to align South Africans on the direction our country should take.
The Clean Slate is a citizen-led movement focused on one fundamental question: What direction should South Africa take?
We believe that before choosing parties or politicians, South Africans need to align on a shared vision for our country's future. We're building that vision together, policy by policy, through direct democratic participation.
This isn't about left, right or center. It's about creating evidence-based policies that serve South African interests first, developed by South Africans, for South Africans.
As we approach the 2029 national elections, The Clean Slate community will collectively decide our political strategy through a democratic vote.
Partner with an Existing Party
Present our policy platform to existing political parties and support the party that commits to implementing our vision.
Form Our Own Political Party
Register as an independent political party and contest the elections directly with our community-developed platform.
This decision will be made closer to the 2029 elections, after we've built a comprehensive policy platform and a strong community base. The choice will be made by member vote, ensuring our path forward reflects the will of the movement.
Any member can submit policy proposals addressing real challenges facing South Africa. Share your ideas, backed by research and evidence.
The community discusses, debates, and refines proposals. Good ideas get better through collective input and diverse perspectives.
Popular proposals go to member vote. Policies that pass with 66%+ support become part of our official platform.
Every policy must strengthen South Africa's independence and reduce dependency on foreign powers and markets.
Policies must directly improve the lives of ordinary South Africans, not serve elite interests or foreign agendas.
All policies grounded in research, best practices from successful countries, and measurable outcomes.
Every member has an equal voice. One person, one vote on all major decisions and policies.
All discussions, votes, and decisions are public and open. No backroom deals, no hidden agendas.
We focus on what works, not ideology. If a policy delivers results for South Africans, we support it.
We are students, workers, entrepreneurs, professionals, and retirees. We are black, white, colored, and Indian. We speak all 11 official languages. We come from cities and rural areas.
What unites us isn't race, class, or location—it's a shared belief that South Africa can do better, and that everyday citizens should have a real say in how.
While open to all ages, our movement is led by young South Africans who will live with the consequences of today's decisions for decades to come.
We bring fresh perspectives, digital-native organizing skills, and an impatience with politics as usual. The future belongs to us—we're taking responsibility for it.
Gather thousands of members, develop comprehensive policies across all areas of governance, establish credibility through quality proposals.
Expand membership, engage in local communities, host town halls, build provincial structures, demonstrate our democratic process works.
Complete our comprehensive policy platform, publish detailed implementation plans, build coalitions with civil society organizations.
Hold member vote on political strategy: partner with existing party or form our own. Begin preparation based on decision.
Either support a party that adopts our platform or contest elections as an independent party. Put our vision to the people.
